Our Year 5 Learning
At Old Hall we are proud of the broad curriculum we offer. The children enjoy a wide variety of subjects and this helps to develop our children and their learning. We believe that this is a fundamental part of supporting children with their understanding of the World in which they live. Please see highlights of our half term which we will continue to update below.
Here is the curriculum map for Year 5, it contains all the exciting, interesting things we will be learning this year. During the course of the year, in line with the children's interests, topics may move slightly. If topics do change, this will be made aware in the class newsletter.
On our class page, you can take a look at what we will be learning about each term, as well as keep track of any important reminders or special dates for the children.
History/Geography
As part of the children's learning of History and Geography the class are set homework challenges that they can complete at least once per fortnight.

Times Tables
Being confident in times tables is still extremely important in Year 5. Mathematical questions become increasingly harder and having the fluency with times tables will enable them to tackle these questions with more ease. Daily practice of times tables in still recommended in Year 5.
Spellings
This half term we will be looking at previous spellings so the children can recap words from earlier in the year. These will be taught alongside the Y5/6 common exception words. Words have been chosen that can be used in their writing for the half term.
