Outdoor Learning Policy
The last couple of weeks saw the children learning all about fire safety and then using their new skills to toast marshmallows and cook pizzas over the fire. As you can imagine, this was a big hit with the children and a fitting end to their Forest School experience for the time being. A massive thank you to Hannah Pallett who has worked with the children over the weeks, teaching them new skills, encouraging team bonding, inspiring an appreciation and love of the outdoors and just simple giving the children a great time. It is an experience they will never forget and we can't wait to welcome Hannah back in the near future again.
Another week of forest school in the lovely sunshine! This week the children enjoyed making their own dye from crushing beetroot, onions and spinach as well as weaving and printing using natural resources from the garden. They also practiced braiding again using rope, enjoyed pond dipping and searching for minibeasts under logs and stones.
Week 3 of Forest School saw the children pond dipping and learning how to tie different kinds of knots. They also enjoyed looking for and identifying minibeasts as well as participating in more team bonding games.
Another week for Years 3 and 4 children learning forest skills and they loved it... creating their own paint and using ferns as paint brushes, making fat balls and bird feeders to keep our feathered friends happy and making and launching seed bombs to enhance the outdoor area even more. This was in addition to playing bonding games to enhance skills of co-operation and teamwork. The children are benefiting so much from exploring the outdoor environment that the sessions seem to fly by!
