Reception

Hello and welcome to our Reception page at Old Hall Primary School. This is a very exciting year for you and your child. We are looking forward to working with you to ensure that your child has the best possible start to the next chapter in their educational journey. Your children will have a wonderful time exploring the school environment, learning new routines, knowledge and skills and becoming a full and active member of the school community, and we can't wait to get started!

The Year R team is: Mrs Hesketh (Class Teacher) Miss Cooper (Teaching assistant).

We are really looking forward to working with you and your child/ren.

Class Information

As we embark on our first term with your children we focus a lot on making new friends, building relationships and talking about ourselves and those who are important to us. Your children will be learning new routines and the importance of our school values and how we can uphold these.

Our first theme will be 'This is me'! Where the children will have lots of opportunity to talk about themselves and their loved ones and we will get to know and understand a lot more about your children and what is important to them. We will spend the first half term making our base line assessments of your child's knowledge, skills and interests so that we can cater for them specifically and tailor our planning and enhance our environment to meet their needs and interests.

We will put any important information you may need to know on our school website and I will also be sending home a weekly newsletter which will keep you updated on all the learning and activities we have been doing during the week.

Each week your child will have PE on a Tuesday and a Friday. We will spend the first half term focusing on developing your child's independence with changing themselves and organising their own equipment. After half term your child will then join the rest of the school and come dressed in their PE kit which has been outlined in previous emails and letters sent home.
