Welcome to the Reception Class Page!

Spring 1

January 06, 2020

Welcome back!

We hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas break and the Reception team would like to wish you all a 'HAPPY NEW YEAR'.

This term we are starting off with a topic all about pirates!!! Arrgghh!!

It will no doubt be noisy and boistrous but we are looking forward to the adventures and challenges it brings!

This term we will be focusing on writing captions and short sentences using our phonic skills. In Maths, we will be looking at data handling, seeing if we can use the information we find. We will also be using 2D and 3D shapes in our problem solving, and continuing working on addition and subtraction.

Wedding at All Saint's Church

In November, we took a trip to All Siant's Church to visit Simon who had been helping us with our 'celebrations', topic. After exploring the church and asking lots of questions we then looked at a traditional Christian wedding and all the children took part carrying out their roles beautifully. Thank you Simon for this experience!

Bury Transport Museum

Last term we went on a trip to the Transport Museum. We had a wonderful day exploring lots of different old fashioned vehicles, and really enjoyed the workshop where we got to make our own vehicles. The children behaved beautifully and were a real credit to our school.

Eve and Duggy

Eve and Duggy are our two class teddies. Each week they go on different adventures with the children. The children are encouraged to write about their adventures and either draw or take photo's of their experiences. The children love to share their adventures with the other children in the class.
