Welcome to the Year 6 Class Page

All Y6 children are invited to a celebration of their time at Old Hall on Tuesday 7th July .

                                                    Summer  2

Hello Year 6,

I hope you and your families are all  still well and happy  as the lockdown continues. Like me, I hope  you have all enjoyed getting out and about, riding your bikes, going for long walks with your families and learning new skills. I have been gardening ,taking photographs  and drawing. I have also seen some of you in school which has been lovely.

This is the term when we would have been preparing for your transition to high school. I have been in touch with many of your schools and have been passing lots of information to the Year 7 tutors about how talented you all are.

For your last topic I would like you to find out all about Mountains. I have added the new topic enrichment activities for you to complete. Don't forget to check the Home Learning page for your Numeracy and Literacy Activities.

Finally, leavers' hoodies are now available to order from Mrs Scarth  in a variety of colours. I do hope we will all meet up soon.

Keep busy, Keep active and  stay safe.

                       Love Mrs Coop x

A poem for my wonderful year 6 children,

Tomorrow is the day that SATs would have started,

The classroom set up and the tables parted,

The rules on the board, the display walls all covered,

Your workbooks away, out of sight in the cupboard,

Instead you are home, you’re doing your bit,

Protecting your families from getting sick,

It’s important right now, we’re in lockdown you see,

Being part of world history,

You’ve all worked so hard, you should be so proud,

You’ve practised your SPAG and times tables out loud,

You’ve learnt algebra to the Nth degree,

And now the tests, they will no longer be,

Some may be sad that they can’t take the tests,

“Hip hip hooray,” I’ve no doubt said the rest,

Whilst the tests are on hold and you stay home this term,

Remember that tests can’t measure everything you learn,

And I don’t need SATs results to tell me,

How hard you have worked, it’s easy to see,

Year 6, let me shout it out loud,

You’ve made all your teachers so very proud,

So please continue to learn, fill that brain up full,

And remember, we think you’re all wonderful!

From Mrs Coop, Mrs Mahony and all the staff at Old Hall x

Summer 1 Spellings

We have learnt all the spellings from our  Assertive mentoring spelling list so make sure you can spell all the words on the Year 5/6 list

Y6 SATs 2020

As you know The SAT's will  now not take place this May and as yet we are awaiting instructions as to how to  report on the achievements of the children in Year 6. Don't worry, all your hard work was worth it . You all made lots of progresss and should be very proud.

Classroom Equipment

All the children will be given  a small clear pencil case

with basic classroom stationary but it would be beneficial for you to provide them with a blue rub out pen .

Year 6 poems

We have been using personification in Year 6. Our inspiration was the recent expulsion of Bury F.C from the football league as many children and families were devastated.

Robinwood 2020

This year's  outdoor activity weekend in Todmordon was a great success. The children participated in lots of exciting activities including the  zip wire, climbing wall, Dungeon of Doom and the now infamous Pirhana Pool. We all survived!
