We place heavy emphasis on attendance here at Old Hall. Ensuring that your child attends school on time each day is vital in ensuring that they reach their full potential. We celebrate attendance in our newsletters and ask for our parents and carers full support in ensuring that your child's attendance is at least 95.5%, our whole school target.

What is good attendance?

There is sometimes a perception that an attendance rate of 90% is good.  This is because an examination score of 90% means excellence.  However, as an attendance rate, 90% is unsatisfactory, it equates to missing 20 days per year. We consider below 92% as approaching persistent absence.  Our Old Hall whole school attendance target this year is 96%.

Attendance Rewards

Weekly awards are presented in our Friday Celebration Assembly for the classes with the highest attendance. Our whole school graph reminds the children of the importance of good attendance and punctuality and the points they have collected each week for their attendance, in the hope that they can secure the class attendance party at the end of the term.

The weekly golden cup and certificate is awarded to the class or classes with the highest weekly attendance figures, with points awarded for second and third place.  Efforts are celebrated in our weekly newsletter to futher emphasise the importance of good attendance.
