Covid 19 - 'Coronavirus'

Due to the recent outbreak of Covid 19, letters have been sent home with more information and advice about the virus. We have also put together some home learning packs, please click the button to access the home learning page.

Please bear in mind if you do decide to take and/ or share photographs of your child's home learning that the photographs are appropriate; children are suitably dressed, photographs are taken in communal areas of the home (not in a child's bedroom) and that all content shared is of an age appropriate manner.

Exciting news!

A few weeks ago, Unistage Ltd ran a Facebook competition for schools to win a stage, Mrs Scarth promoted this within school and we received lots of votes and we were lucky enough to be chosen as the winning school! Miss Cooper’s ticket was the winner. The stage that we won was smaller than our old one so one of our parents, Mr Parry, has kindly given us a very generous donation to allow us to double its size! In addition another parent, Mrs Balesi from the The Village Bistro in Greenmount arranged for donations to Old Hall to be made at their opening celebration – this has been used to pay for additional extras to the stage.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

On 27th September we hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning. We had an abundance of tasty treats for children and parents to purchase. A very big thank you to everyone who was involved especially our school councillors who came in early to help set up! We have raised £252.40!

Jeans for Genes Day

On 20th September we had Jeans for Genes Day which was organised by Sorrel and Daisy from Year 6. They created a fantastic power point to present to the whole school and hosted a after school cake sale to raise money for this cause. In total we raised just over £260. Thank you to all who donated money and cakes.

Beekeeping in Summerseat!

Congratulations to Monty Speed in Year 3 who has become one of the youngest beekeepers in the country. He is taking beekeeping lessons and his bees are now installed on the island in Summerseat. He is responsible for taking care of his colony!

Annex Grand Opening

Old Hall had a special visitor to open our new annex. We had local MP James Frith into officially cut the ribbon along with governors and school councillors. James Frith came around to all classes so we could ask him lots of questions about his job.

After school, we has a cake & biscuit sale which raised £203.18! Thank you for all your generous donations.

Cross Country Relay Final

Old Hall took part in a cross country final against other schools in the local area. We had a fantastic time and had some fantastic results. Lucas from year 6 came 1st and was the overall champion for the boys competition, Leah from year 6 came 3rd in the girls competition and Amelia from year 4 came 3rd in the year 3&4 competition. Also, Ruby from year 2 competed in the year 3&4 race and came 5th! We are super proud of these winners and to all of our cross county runners!

Little Riddlers

13 super writers from Year 2 have had their riddles published in the young writers 'Little Riddlers - print-sized poets'. Year 2 wrote their own riddles based on a traditional tale character. Our amazing Year 2 riddlers are pictured with their books. Congratulations for your fantastic riddles!

School News

School has received a letter from Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP, to congratulate the school, headteacher, staff and pupils in achieving a very high standard in writing in KS2 2017. Results showed that 100% of pupils reached or exceeded the expected standard. This means, Old Hall is in the top 1% of primary schools in Englad for achievement in Writing.

Old Hall have once again entered the annual national joke competition, set up and introduced to us by Mike Croston. We had a fabulous amount of jokes brought in by the children and 2 semi-finalists from each class were chosen. But, congratulations to Charlie in Year 3 for his winning joke! The joke has been submitted to the Grand Final at Mr Speaker's House in Westminster, London. Mrs Ainscoe said 'I am pleased and proud that Charlie's joke has been selected to represent Old Hall Primary School at this prodigious event.' Here is Charlie's joke:

"Which capital city keeps getting bigger?"
