At Old Hall, we value Physical Education. We are all athletes! A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

In EYFS and KS1 we provide children with opportunities to develop good coordination, control and a wide range of physical skills; gymnastics, dance, multi skill development including throwing and catching. As the children move into KS2, they use these skills in team games. LKS2 and UKS2 then have opportunities to represent our school in a wide range of competitions and have even represented Bury at the Manchester School Games (held at the Ethiad Stadium) in the last two academic years.

Daily Mile

At Old Hall we have been taking part in the Daily Mile for 6 years and have found it a great way of ensuring the children get 15 active minutes every school day. This physical activity also promotes social, emotional and mental well-being. Four years ago, we used part of our sports premium to have a daily mile track built onto one of our fields so that the children had a laid track and were able to calculate their own laps.

WOW - Walk to School

This year we are also joining in with living streets Walk to school programme. The aim is to get more children to walk, scoot or cycle to school. We understand that not all of our children are able to walk due to the distance, but they even have an option of park and stride. If the children walk to school once a week, every week for a month, then they will earn themselves a themed badge. It's a new themed badge every month and there are 11 to collect.
